It is a ‘not for profit’ centre of excellence dedicated to serving its 35,000 members, 50 corporate members and society at large.  It is also one of the oldest and most respected banking institutes in the world whose mission is to enhance the knowledge and skills of those working in banking and financial services.

The Institute of Bankers School of Professional Finance is a recognised School of University College Dublin (UCD), affiliated with the UCD College of Business and Law. For 2009|2010, the School of Professional Finance offers a comprehensive portfolio of Financial Services courses ranging from Professional Certificate (Level 7 of the National Framework of Qualifications) to Masters (Level 9).

The Institute also provides members with an innovative Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme which not only enables members to meet their CPD requirements under the Minimum Competency Requirements (MCR) issued by the Financial Regulator, but also encourages and facilitates life-long learning.  CPD helps ensure that members keep their knowledge and skills up-to-date throughout their career.
